Specialising in remarkable contemporary art pieces created from ceramic, concrete, bronze and other complex materials, Petr Weigl undertakes both private and commercial commissions for his bespoke, large-scale works. Weigl has over a decade of experience in handling projects in varying degrees of scale, complexity and budget, with nearly all of his artworks available to be commissioned in different dimensions and formations to perfectly suit the desired space. His latest large-scale commissions include ‘Contour Bronze 5-Panel’ and ‘Humanity’…
Contour Bronze 5-Panel Bespoke Commission
The piece has been commissioned by Katherine Maginnis for an interior design client, Oleg Klodt. As the client was particularly interested in the simplicity and natural aesthetic of Weigl’s works from the early 2000’s, the piece was based on one of his early designs from around 2006. Where topography and geometry meet and imaginary rivers cut through the strata of cold cast and patinated bronze, Weigl creates a powerful homage to organic structures. Commissioned in August and recently completed, the final artwork is now ready for its shipment to Moscow!
Bespoke ‘Humanity’ Commission
Spec: 125cm x 125cm
The bespoke sized ‘Humanity’ sculpture was recently created for a client of Katherine Maginnis. Made with bone china tiles and 23 carat platinum lustre, the piece was crafted to represent members of their family by embedding the initials and birth dates on some of the individual tiles. In homage to the craft of ceramics, this series ponders the infinite variations and random differences that occur through the ceramic creation process and human DNA. Even though each individual tile, like ourselves is unique, the question remains: are we really so different from one another?
‘It’s really lovely to personalise work if at all possible, because it makes the commissioning (and owning) experience so much more meaningful’ – Petr Weigl
